For any underfloor heating system to work efficiently, the property needs to be built to current building regulations and no rooms should lose more than the above output.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Condensing boilers are very efficient with underfloor heating. When using combination boilers you must check with the manufacturer that the boiler can be fitted with a secondary pump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Underfloor heating systems can be combined with conventional radiator systems but the underfloor heating system needs to be on a\u00a0completely separate system,\u00a0i.e. the flow and return for the underfloor heating needs to go all the way back to the boiler, normal control is by 2 port valves, like a normal S-Plan system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Advice on Insulation and Floor Constructions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend\u00a0a minimum of 50mm of Polyurethane insulation\u00a0for the underfloor heating system. This is very high quality insulation and can be used for both concrete and timber suspended floor constructions.\u00a0All insulation requirements should comply with current building regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not supply insulation. Any builder\u2019s merchant will stock insulation such as Xtratherm or Kingspan. The quote is based on clipping the pipe direct to the insulation board. We supply the pipe clips. Use a\u00a0minimum of 65mm of screed\u00a0on top of the insulation for concrete floors. As the system is used for the first time, the mixing valve must be set to minimum setting to let the moisture in the screed dry out. The temperature should be increased by two degrees every day until the mixing valve is set at 45\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Care must be taken to protect the pipework whilst installing the screed. Finally the floor finish is laid. Underfloor heating works well with almost any floor finish; tiles, carpets (use carpets with a resistance of less than 0.15 m2K\/W), timber floors, plastic etc. The floor coverings and the adhesive must be suitable for the temperatures that underfloor heating will provide; the maximum temperature they need to resist being 40\u00b0C. Carpet and underlay&nbsp;<strong>together<\/strong>&nbsp;must not exceed a thermal resistance of 2.5 Tog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Floorboards must have a moisture content lower than 7% before they are installed. We do not recommend floorboards thicker than 25mm.\u00a0Always check with the manufacturers of any floor finish that it is suitable for underfloor heating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Heating in Toilets and Bathrooms<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As these areas are usually very small, extra heat might be needed. Therefore, it is standard practice to install towel rails combined with the underfloor heating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Isolating Valves Before Mixing Valve(s)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We strongly recommend that the plumber installs\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifanpvc.com\/index.php\/product-category\/brass-valves\/ball-valve\/\">ball valves<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0on the flow &amp; return feeding the underfloor heating system, in case the pump and mixing valve should need servicing in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A floor heating pipe needs to be laid at a specific depth based on the heating pipe size and the type of flooring you have. Usually, the maximum heat output for a  underfloor heating  is\u00a070 W\/m2\u00a0for timber floors and\u00a0100 W\/m2\u00a0for concrete floors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For these systems to work efficiently, a home has to be built according to current building regulations. With the regulations, any room should receive the heat it requires. The time it takes for this heating system to heat up a room also depends on the flooring material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For instance,\u00a0pipes laid at 150mm under a concrete slab will take about 4 hours to heat the whole house to about 15 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, cement screed would be about 75mm thick, which will take the  underfloor heating up to 2 hours to warm up the whole house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Please Note:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Always check with the manufacturer of the floor covering if it can be used for underfloor heating. Timber floors need to have a moisture content below 10% to avoid shrinkage. The system must be operated for 21 days with a very low temperature to dry the screed, then the floor covering can be laid.
